What is Different Today...

A year ago I was preparing Jake for his sinus surgery.  At that point, we had been battling those darn sinuses for almost eighteen months.   We knew he had allergies, and we knew they were having an impact on his growth and development.

We had seen Jake's speech plateau, and there had been ups and downs in his behavior.  I think mainly due to not feeling well.

Now a year later, I am thankful that we have found relief and have a clear plan for helping Jake be his best.

I give thanks for a wonderful ENT who had an awesome bedside manner with Jake.

I give thanks to a patient preschool teacher who has taught has given him behavior strategies to help deal with frustrations, and who listens to me when I give suggestions to help Jake be his best.

I give thanks that Jake qualified for speech language services within the school district.  Early intervention is key.

I give thanks for my brave little boy who is willing to get three shots a week in his arms to help with his allergies.

Jan. 3 and 4, 2011

Jan 3, 2011

Today I am thankful for comfy shoes.  When you are a teacher you are on your feet a lot.  Comfy shoes make all of the difference in how I feel at the end of the day.

Today I am thankful for my protective dogs.  Both are 70 pound hound dogs who (so far) are the best deterrent to unwanted visitors.  While the barking can drive us crazy at times, it is nice to know that they are here to protect us and their turf from anyone and everyone.

January 2, 2011

Part of my New Year's resolution in rediscovering myself is keeping a gratitude journal.  I will try and make this a daily journal of the simple things in my life I am grateful for.

My biggest gratitudes are for my husband, children, family, friends, and a career.

Today I am grateful for a baby that wakes up happy.  It makes such a difference in my day to go into Jacob's room in the morning after he has had a few minutes of babbling time to see his eyes light up and his legs kick in excitement for seeing me.

Such a difference from his sisters who are not morning people.
